Domestic violence does not discriminate. Anyone of any race, age, sexual orientation, religion or gender can be a victim – or perpetrator – of domestic violence. It can happen to people who are married, living together or who are dating. It affects people of all socioeconomic backgrounds and education levels.

Domestic violence includes behaviors that physically harm, arouse fear, prevent a partner from doing what they wish or force them to behave in ways they do not want. It includes the use of physical and sexual violence, threats and intimidation, emotional abuse and economic deprivation. Many of these different forms of domestic violence/abuse can be occurring at any one time within the same intimate relationship.

Description

Victim Witness Services offers compassionate support and resources to victims, witnesses, and survivors of crime and crisis through effective response and community outreach. We are a non-profit organization providing outreach, advocacy and support services to the victims of crimes in Coconino County. All services are offered free of charge and without discrimination based upon race, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, socioeconomic status, nation status, or religion. Victim/Witness advocates are available 24 hours a day to provide immediate intervention to victims of crime or crisis. We respond when contacted by law enforcement agencies, emergency service providers, or at the request of non-reporting victims. An advocate can offer ongoing support and education throughout the criminal justice process, upholding victims’ rights, providing court escort, transportation to and from court, social service referrals, trial preparation, follow-up support, and information on Crime Victim Compensation benefits. All conversations with advocates and requests for services are strictly confidential, unless the advocate is given permission to discuss the case with outside agencies or persons. Founded in 1984, Victim/Witness Services was originally formed as the Impact Crisis Team and functioned solely as an advocacy program. Since then, the organization has grown to include 10 outreach and support programs. Victim/Witness Services helps hundreds of victims and witnesses each year through crisis and the criminal justice process in its entirety. TO REACH US AFTER HOURS, CALL FLAGSTAFF POLICE DEPARTMENT AT 928-774-1414 AND ASK FOR A VICTIM WITNESS ADVOCATE. YOU ONLY NEED TO PROVIDE YOUR NAME AND CONTACT INFORMATION- WE ARE AVAILABLE 24/7.
